Spaces as pages, and an icon for each
The column's spaces lie side by side: two fingers sideways move the one on screen and the next one together, the next coming in as this one goes, with nothing between them. Let go, and the pages finish the move; the space that has arrived becomes the one on screen in the same frame, already where it is drawn. Every space's row is made ahead of time for that — tabs with an address and no page, which cost next to nothing. Spaces wear an icon instead of a colour: one of 24 of Apple's symbols, in one grey — work, thinking, leisure and life. The column's foot shows the one of the space on screen, whatever the number of spaces; a click opens the menu, and the icon turns over the way the spaces went when they change. The card for a new space picks an icon; the menu has Icon, Move Left and Move Right in place of Colour and the dots. bench: space hold DX | release, for a look at the column mid-swipe.
